Do you know that the flag of Castile and León conceals many years of history? The golden castle symbolises the wealth of the kingdom of Castile while the purple lions refer to the legend of King Pelayo, who is believed to have killed a lion during the battle of Guadalete.

This flag symbolises the union of the kingdoms of Castile and León when they united to form a nation under the reign of Ferdinand III the Saint. In fact, the León flag is the most similar to the regional government’s flag as its main symbol is a lion on a white base and a crimson background.

Have you seen the flag of Zamora? It is known as Seña Bermeja and is one of Spain’s most original flags because it consists of eight red stripes and one green strip, waving individually.
